Much of GFS Platform's work is conducted in areas of high deprivation characterised by a lack of amenities and services for young people.

The organisation offers a safe, single-gendered and non-judgemental environment where girls and young women can explore their personal development. GFS Platform also offers them new experiences and opportunities that girls and young women may not have otherwise been available to them at school or at home. This enables them to gain new skills, pursue aspirations and to grow in confidence and self-esteem.

The benefits of single-gender work includes the fact that girls and young women can learn together and from each other as well as experience positive role models in the form of their peers, volunteers and staff.
